Residence Hall Move-In on the Hilltop

St. Edward’s Residence Life confirms each student’s move-in date and time by email. For fall 2026, first-year students moved in on August 18, with earlier dates for some athletes and for transfer and exchange students. Students are also expected to bring their own move-in supplies, such as carts and step stools, which is where a crew helps. Check the university’s current dates each year, because they change.

We go over the hall, floor, stairs and unloading rules during the pre-move survey and plan the crew and timing around your confirmed move-in slot.

Apartment Moves Along South Congress and South Austin

Many St. Edward’s students live off campus, especially after their first year, and most stay close to the hilltop:

• South Congress Avenue: mid-rise apartments north and south of campus, where elevator and loading reservations are common.
• Woodward Street and East Oltorf: complexes right around campus, with stairs and shared parking lots.
• The rest of South Austin: rental houses and duplexes in the neighborhoods off South First, South Lamar and William Cannon.

Small Moves and Furniture Assembly

A student move might be a bed, a desk, a dresser and a few boxes. We pad and wrap every piece, take apart what will not fit through a door or up a stairwell, and put it back together in the new place. We also take single-item moves, and we assemble new flat-pack furniture that is still in the box.

We don’t offer storage of any kind, including summer storage. We move your things straight from one address to the next.

Booking a Student Move

• Move-in and move-out days: we work the mid-August move-in weekends and the days after May finals, and early starts are possible.
• Parents can book and pay: a parent can book and pay for the move while the student is the one there on move day.
• Roommates: we move several roommates on one truck, and each roommate can pay separately.
• Certificate of insurance: if an apartment building asks for one, we can provide it.
