1. Ask for the TxDMV number, then look it up yourself. If a mover stalls or only says “we’re licensed,” walk away.
2. Watch for vague answers and no company name. Unlicensed outfits often answer the phone only as “Movers” and show up in unmarked rental trucks.
3. Get everything in writing before loading. If someone wants to load first and figure out the price later, that’s a red flag.
