Residence Hall Move-In and Move-Out at UTSA

UTSA’s Housing and Residence Life assigns move-in days by building, and for fall 2026 move-in ran August 13 to 16. Students check in at their assigned time before going to their hall, and unloading zones are for unloading only, so vehicles have to move once they are empty. At the end of the year, students must check out by noon the day after their last final exam. Dates change each year, so check UTSA’s current schedule.

UTSA notes that Chisholm Hall, Laurel Village and Chaparral Village do not have elevators, and elevator access in other buildings is limited. If your student is on an upper floor, plan for stairs. We go over the building, floor and unloading rules during the pre-move survey and plan the crew and timing to fit.

Apartment Moves Around UTSA

Many UTSA students live off campus, and the main student-housing areas each move a little differently:

UTSA Boulevard: student complexes within walking distance of the Main Campus, with busy parking lots on move-in weekend.
Babcock Road: a few minutes’ drive from campus, with larger complexes and long walks from parking to units.
Hausman Road: student communities a little farther out, usually with more room for a truck.
Downtown Campus and the Medical Center: apartments and mid-rises where elevator and loading reservations are common.

Small Moves and Furniture Assembly

Student moves are often small: a bed, a desk, a dresser and a few boxes. We pad and wrap every piece, take apart what will not fit through a door or up a stairwell, and put it back together in the new place. We also take single-item moves, and we assemble new flat-pack furniture that is still in the box.

We don’t offer storage of any kind, including summer storage. We move your things straight from one address to the next.

Booking a Student Move

Move-in and move-out days: we work the mid-August move-in weekends and the days after May finals, and early starts are possible.
Parents can book and pay: a parent can book and pay for the move while the student is the one there on move day.
Roommates: we move several roommates on one truck, and each roommate can pay separately.
Certificate of insurance: if an apartment building asks for one, we can provide it.
